Women and Drugs by Council of Europe

Women and Drugs This study examines the progress, both in theory and practice, of work with female addicts. It describes the development of national service networks for women, and presents approaches to in-patient treatment in northern and Western Europe.

Since the mid-1980s, the life situation and specific treatment needs of female drug misusers have become topics of research and reasons for significant changes in treatment policy in many European countries. This publication, which includes speeches from a seminar of international experts on women and drugs, examines the progress, both in theory and practice, of work with female addicts. It describes the development of national service networks for women, and presents approaches to in-patient treatment in northern and Western Europe. It also includes assessments of the situation of female drug misusers in Croatia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Poland, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia.
