Based on an ancient Irish tale, this is the story of Fionn Mac Cumhaill, the great Fianna leader, who wishes to marry Grainne. She will not have him, and runs off with Diarmaid. A great chase takes place, with a final battle involving mixed loyalties, a warrior's honour, and a woman's tragedy. From the treasury of ancient Celtic myth comes a wild tale of love and adventure. Grainne is to marry the aging warrior lord of the Fianna, Fion Mac Cumhaill, but at their marriage feast she falls in love with another member of the Fianna, a handsome young man called Diarmaid O Duibhne. Together they run away to the West. When Fionn finds the pair gone, he is mad with rage and swears he will hunt them down. A magical chase begins that leads Diarmaid and Grainne into many dangers.
