Two Little Boys by O' & Edward Neill & Barry Whyte

The Dublin and Monaghan Bombings

Two Little Boys "Two Little Boys" sketches the political situation at the time of the bombings in Ireland, Britain and the North. A pen picture of Eddie O'Neill is offered through interviews with family and friends, and how the O'Neills struggled to cope with the loss of their father.

On the afternoon of 17 May 1974 Ed O'Neill was playing, just like any other four-year old boy in the city. That day was not to be like any other however. Later, as he was walking on Parnell Street with his brother and father, Edward O'Neill Snr, a major explosion went off killing his father instantly. The two young boys were very seriously injured. Thirty-two others were killed that day, in what became known simply as The Dublin and Monaghan Bombings. Two Little Boys sketches the political situation at the time of the bombings in Ireland, Britain and the North. A pen picture of Eddie O'Neill is offered through interviews with family and friends, and how the O'Neills struggled to cope with the loss of their father. The trials of the O'Neill's campaign to seek justice for their father is outlined over the near thirty years since the bombing, including the many trials and tribulations they endured. Significant milestones along the way include the Justice for the Forgotten Campaign and Don Mullan's work. The material is brought right up to date with the imminent publication of the Barron Report.
