This critique of the traditional views and myths concerning population growth and its consequences argues that only by putting the issue within a framework of related matters - political stability, land use, consumption and food distribution - can population control be adequately understood. When the interests underlying the different perspectives are taken into account, it is possible to see how current policies of population control have been justified. The contributors to this study explore how the true interests of those people most affected must be considered before appropriate and effective control measures can be found. |
