WinEcon is an interactive-learning software package for teaching introductory economics. Offering more than seventy-five hours of material on two CD-ROMs, one covering macroeconomics and the other microeconomics, it includes extensive step-by-step tutorials, practice quizzes, economic databases, and an economics glossary. It is the first computer-based learning package to cover the entire syllabus for an economics principles course. Upon its release in the United Kingdom, WinEcon was awarded a medal by the British Computer Society, a European Academic Software Award, and an Asymetrix Interactive Award for Educational Software. The MIT Press version of WinEcon is the first American adaptation of the software available in the United States. Minimum requirements to run WinEcon -- PC using a 486 or higher processor, Pentium recommended -- 8MB RAM (16MB for NT) -- CD-ROM drive -- SVGA or higher resolution monitor -- hard disk with 50MB free space -- Microsoft Windows 3.x or Windows 95/98/NT The TLTP Economics Consortium consists of eight UK university economics departments. It is supported by more than 150 Associate Members and managed by the Institute for Learning and Research Technology at the University of Bristol.
